Chondroitin
Chondroitin is found naturally in joints where it helps to attract fluid into the cartilage. It's an expensive nutrient, so of course some companies claim 100mg but actually use a material that is only 20% Chondroitin. We don't do this, which makes this product excellent value for money. Although Glucosamine works well on its own, there is increasing evidence that the addition of Chondroitin can be of benefit for some people.
Chondroitin is in its own class when it comes to materials that are at risk of being fraudulently labelled. It is very expensive and until recently the chemical analysis to identify potency and purity was difficult, so the fraudsters knew that they could get away with bulking out the chondroitin with starch.
That's all changed now because a UK University has developed an analytical method which can accurately quantify the amount of chondroitin present in a tablet. A year ago these researchers surprised the Dutch supplement industry by proving that many chondroitin products on sale had little or no chondroitin in them. You might have thought that this would alert UK supplement companies to the potential problem of imported chondroitin. Not a bit of it!
When a similar study was carried out just recently in the UK, the results were shocking. Worst of all was a Jersey registered mail order company trading out of Guernsey. The study showed that one of their products contained just 16% of the chondroitin it was supposed to, and this was good compared to their other chondroitin product, which was shown to contain 0% of what it was supposed to.
What about Natures Best Chondroitin
Well, not only do we test all our chondroitin to verify its purity and potency, we also use an independent laboratory to confirm that we are achieving the target weight.
