Turmeric (Curcumin)
At last Turmeric is receiving the press coverage it deserves, both in scientific journals and in the health pages of the national press. The reason for this is that researchers around the world are discovering that this popular spice adds more than just a pretty colour to our curries. It seems that a regular intake of turmeric may promote certain aspects of our health and attention has focused on a number of health areas.
The important ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, a bright yellow compound that is found in the root however there is often confusion between the words turmeric and curcumin - curcumin is the name given to the three curcuminoids naturally present in turmeric.
We offer two turmeric products, both contain standardised extracts rather than just dried culinary turmeric; our ‘Original’ Turmeric 10,000mg, standardised on the curcumin level (95%) and Curcusorb™ on the specific curcuminoid level (20%). Whichever you choose you can be sure we’ve done our research! If you’re unsure which one is more suitable for you, please do contact our friendly Nutrition Advisors who will be happy to help.
If you’re considering taking a multi it’s worth remembering that we have two multivitamins, Multi-Max Advance® and Multi-Max Complete®, both of which contain a concentrated extract of turmeric, the equivalent of 1g of turmeric powder.
We insist on material sourced from suppliers with an excellent reputation for quality and which has undergone stringent testing prior to being manufactured, tested and packed in the UK. Naturally our turmeric meets the strictest EU regulations on contaminants.
