School Anxiety: How to Relax Your Child on Their First Day Back

School Anxiety: How to Relax Your Child

Whether this is the first day back from the holidays, a new school or the first time to school, it can be a daunting prospect for your child. To help reduce anxiety associated with first-day jitters it’s useful to chat to them about what to expect.

Reading books about school and addressing any specific concerns they may have will help reduce their anxiety. Schools have protocols in place for children with such worries, and teachers are very familiar with dealing with these situations. It may be that there is a ‘buddy’ system or that they advise that they attend for shorter periods until they feel more comfortable. Just seeing their classroom and meeting some of their peers prior to the first day will help them to visualise what is to come. Aromatherapy can be a useful weapon in your anxiety arsenal to help soothe away any worries.

Relaxing blend is a fusion of natural essential oils including; clary sage, lavender and geranium which will help your child to unwind and decompress from their busy day at school.

Lavender essential oil has a reputation for its calming effects. A few drops on a pillow at night is a natural way to relax troubled minds.
