Canesten Oral Capsule 150mg

Canesten Oral Capsule 150mg contains the active ingredient fluconazole. Fluconazole belongs to a group of medicines called azoles, which is an anti-fungal agent that treats many types of fungal infections, such as thrush. Fluconazole can also be used to prevent fungal infections in people whose immune system is not working properly.
Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast called Candida. This yeast normally exists in your body quite happily without causing any harm, however when the natural pH balance of the vagina is upset, candida can multiply. At this point, symptoms of itching may occur and the development of thrush can manifest. It is important that a thrush infection is treated internally as well as externally, to prevent any symptoms from returning.

Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water (with or without food). If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor.

Capsule: Fluconazole. Colloidal Silicon Dioxide. Lactose Monohydrate. Magnesium Stearate. Maize Starch Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Brilliant Blue FCF (E133). Titanium Dioxide (E171). Gelatine. Shellac. Black Iron Oxide (E172). Propylene Glycol.

Suitable For female teenagers and adults (& their partners), between the ages of 16 - 60 years, only on prescription. Please see the doctor if you are aged under 16 or over 60.

Keep out of the reach and sight of young children. Not suitable for those under the age of 16 years (unless on the advice of a medical practitioner). Do not use if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients of fluconazole. Do not use if you are taking the antihistamine, terfenadine. Capsule contains lactose monohydrate, so if you have an intolerance to some sugars seek medical consultation before use. Seek medical consultation if you have had any disease or illness affecting the liver or kidneys, or have had any unexplained jaundice.
