Alka-Seltzer Original Effervescent Tablets - 20

Alka-Seltzer Original Effervescent Tablets are especially effective when taken before bed and again in the morning. They dissolve in water to give a sparkling solution and contain three active substances: aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), citric acid and sodium hydrogen carbonate. Aspirin belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and are used to relieve pain and inflammation. Both citric acid and sodium hydrogen carbonate form antacids to settle the stomach and relieve the symptoms of heartburn & indigestion.

Dissolve in a glass of water prior to oral administration. Adults, the elderly & children aged 16 years and over: put 2 tablets into water. The dose may be repeated every 4 hours, as required, with a maximum of 4 dosages in 24 hours. These dosages should not be continued for more than three days without consulting a physician.

This medicine contains 477 mg sodium (main component of cooking/table salt) in each tablet. This is equivalent to 23.85% of the recommended maximum daily dietary intake of sodium for an adult. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you need one or more Alka-Seltzer Effervescent Tablets daily for a prolonged period, especially if you have been advised to follow a low salt (sodium) diet.

Suitable For adults and children 16 years and over.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Not suitable for children under 16 years. Do not take Alka Seltzer if you are allergic to aspirin or to any other ingredients, have a stomach or duodenal ulcer or have haemophilia. Not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
