Product Information
Acnecide Face Gel Spot Treatment is an effective leave on medicinal treatment gel for mild facial acne, including blackheads and whiteheads (comedones).
Contains the active ingredient 5% Benzoyl Peroxide which effectively kills up to 95% of spot-causing bacteria.
The formulation combines the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide with a microsphere technology which helps absorb excess oil while releasing glycerine to help soothe + hydrate the skin.
Usage
Wash the affected area with a mild skin cleanser and water, and gently pat your skin dry.
Apply the gel in a thin layer to all the affected areas of the face. Avoid contact with sensitive areas such as eyes, mouth, nose lining and neck. Wash hands thoroughly after applying the gel.
When you first use Acnecide Face Gel apply the gel once daily on alternate days, in the evening before going to bed.
You may feel mild burning and notice slight reddening and peeling of the skin during the first few days. If you have more severe redness, burning, irritation and peeling then you should stop treatment and let your skin go back to normal before restarting treatment.
If Acnecide Face Gel does not affect your skin, or you have only mild burning and slight reddening and peeling after 2-3 days of use, you can apply the gel twice a day, in the morning and evening. If this causes more skin symptoms (burning, irritation, redness, peeling) then you should go back to using Acnecide Face Gel only once a day. If your skin becomes, or remains more severely irritated after stopping, you should speak to your doctor.

Cautions/Allergies
Always read the leaflet in the pack before using Acnecide treatments. Among other important information, it tells you how to start using it, when not to use it, what to expect, and what to do if side effects occur.
Do not use this product with other acne treatments and benzoyl peroxide products, unless advised by your doctor.
This product may bleach hair and coloured fabrics including clothing, towels and bed linen. Be careful to avoid contact of the gel with these materials. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and rinse surfaces (e.g. the sink) after you have used it.
Avoid use of skincare products with exfoliating acids/ingredients (eg AHA’s, BHA’s Retinol etc.) or physical scrubs at the same time as using Acnecide treatments. Benzoyl peroxide already provides an exfoliant effect.
If your acne gets worse while using an Acnecide treatment or if it does not improve within 12 weeks, it is important to see your pharmacist or doctor for advice. Undertreatment of some forms of acne may sometimes result in scarring. Your pharmacist or doctor will be able to recommend an alternative treatment to manage your acne.
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, planning to have a baby, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Try to avoid exposure to strong sunlight whilst using Acnecide treatments. If exposure is unavoidable, use a suitable sunscreen and apply the treatment in the evening.
Some initial mild sensitivity is common when starting with benzoyl peroxide treatments, as your skin needs to build tolerance to it over time. Follow the advice in the leaflet for how to start using Acnecide treatments. However if your skin becomes severely irritated, or severe redness, itching or peeling of the skin occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult your pharmacist or doctor.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
