Vaginal thrush is an infection of the vagina caused by a species of fungi known as the candida albicans. In women infection a candida infection causes inflammation and discharge from the vagina, while n men it causes tightness of the foreskin and soreness and redness of the penis. In some cases a white, odourless discharge from the penis may also occur. Canesten Oral & Cream Duo contains two antifungal medicines which are used to treat fungi and yeast infections, in the capsule & cream respectively.

Fluconazole and clotrimazole belong to a group of medicines called azoles, which are anti-fungal agents that fight the causes of infections such as thrush. The fluconazole capsule is an effective single dose treatment for vaginal or penile thrush, while the clotrimazole thrush cream provides immediate soothing relief from the external itching and soreness caused by the infection.

he active substance is fluconazole at a strength of 150mg. • The other ingredients are colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, maize starch and sodium lauryl sulphate. The capsule shell contains brilliant blue FCF (E133), titanium dioxide (E171) and gelatine. The printing ink contains shellac, black iron oxide (E172) and propylene glycol. Suitable For teenagers and adults, between the ages of 16 - 60 years.

Keep out of the reach and sight of young children. Not suitable for those under the age of 16 years (unless on the advice of a medical practitioner). Do not use if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients of clotrimazole or fluconazole. Do not use if you are taking the antihistamine, terfenadine. Capsule contains lactose monohydrate, so if you have an intolerance to some sugars seek medical consultation before use. Seek medical consultation if you have had any disease or illness affecting the liver or kidneys, or have had any unexplained jaundice.
