Why we don't sell L-Citrulline

Why we don't sell L-Citrulline

What is L-Citrulline?

L-Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid, meaning it can be naturally created in the body. The body converts L-Citrulline into L-Arginine, another amino acid, and nitric oxide. The name “citrulline” is the Latin term for watermelon, so no prizes for a dietary source of this amino acid!

L-Arginine and nitric oxide are the result of converting L-Citrulline. The body uses L-Arginine to make nitric oxide (NO), a substance that relaxes blood vessels.

What is L-Citrulline commonly used for?

Those supplementing with L-Citrulline may be looking to enhance sports performance or support circulatory health, although there is not enough data to assess efficacy in this area.

Why don’t we sell L-Citrulline?

Insufficient studies have been conducted into the long-term effects of L-Citrulline supplementation, so it is not possible to identify if it is safe to use for an extended period. It is also advisable that pregnant or breastfeeding women do not take L-Citrulline. Those on medication should consult their health care practitioner before use as it may interact with current treatments.

What are the alternatives?

Colladeen® Original - Colladeen® Original provides an impressive dose of pure natural plant compounds called anthocyanidins, which are the blue and red pigments found in fruit, seeds and berries. Researchers have identified that these compounds are very active within the body where they act as super strength antioxidants, as well as repairing and protecting collagen. Collagen is the structural protein that gives our skin it’s elasticity and blood vessels their strength.

L-Arginine - The body uses arginine to make nitric oxide (NO), a substance that relaxes blood vessels. The vasodilatory effect of arginine is an important factor in the maintenance of healthy blood flow around the body.
