We try to make as many supplements as possible suitable for vegetarians. Carrageenan is an excellent alternative to gelatin and is used in the manufacture of vegetarian soft gel capsules. It is derived from seaweed and is approved in use for foods by regulatory bodies and also has a long history of use in food products, generally as a gelling and thickening agent. We use food grade carrageenan.

In addition to this, the Scientific Committee for Food (SCF) has endorsed an Acceptable Daily Intake of up to 75mg of carrageenan per kilogram of body weight, per day. All of our supplements contain only very small amounts of this compound and it is accepted as a food additive in Europe and considered to be safe.

A - Yes, cholesterol lowering treatments are known to deplete CoQ10 in the body, so health care practitioners often recommend taking CoQ10 supplements.

A - All of our CoQ10 products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, with the exception of CoQ10 100mg. We are reviewing the materials used to make our CoQ10 100mg capsules, with the intention to offer a veggie/vegan solution very soon.

A - There are two forms of CoQ10: Ubiquinone (CoQ10) and Ubiquinol (‘active’ CoQ10). Both forms of CoQ10 are naturally present in the body. However, our body needs to convert CoQ10 (ubiquinone) into ubiquinol before it can be used to create energy, and this process becomes less efficient as we age. Read more here.
