Vitamin D has been in the news recently as several research projects have highlighted its vital role in the maintenance of normal bone health, its involvement in the normal function of the immune system and its contribution to normal muscle function.
Our bodies obtain Vitamin D from two sources, our diet and from the action of sunlight on our skin which drives the natural production within the body. If we all had plenty of sun then we would have plenty of Vitamin D, but in reality we do need to obtain some from our diet, particularly during the winter months and particularly in the elderly as the body’s ability to manufacture Vitamin D declines with age.

Why do you use this product Vitamin D3 400iu ? I have only recently started taking this product as recommended by my physiotherapist to aid the absorption of calcium from both food and the Osteoguard I take daily. Currently taking two tablets daily.

Why do you use this product Vitamin D3 400iu ? I have read recent reviews that, with all the SPF in face creams nowadays, the morbid fear of skin cancer and the lack of sunshine in the UK, we are not getting enough vitamin D into our systems. Although my diet is extremely healthy I realise that the body cannot manufacture enough of this important vitamin to maintain complete health. I like the fact that NB recognises that the recommended dosage is twice the normal RDA and supplies tablets in the appropriate size to ensure that we only need bother with one a day - I can cope with that!

Why do you use this product Vitamin D3 400iu ? I actually bought this for a friend, although I do take it myself in a much higher dose. I was recently diagnosed with severe D3 dificiency so I am taking 2,000 iu per day. Upon mentioning this to a friend I found out that she also is low but to far lesser extent, so I bought them for her.

Why do you use this product Vitamin D3 400iu ? I read that as you get older, even in sunny climes, the system does not process Vit. D as it should... I am fair skinned, so tend to keep out of strong sunlight... hence the use of Vit D

Why do you use this product Vitamin D3 400iu ? I regularly take calcium for the sake of my bones and teeth and it is necessary to take vitamin D as well for the efficient absorption of the calcium into the system, so that is partly why I take this product. It has also been shown to be beneficial for other reasons as well especially for those of us who do not get a lot of exposure to natural sunlight.
