Silica 200mg
Highest strength silica from bamboo extract in a one-a-day tablet
Silica is a trace mineral which is only required by the body in small amounts and whilst there is no RDA for silica, most nutritionists agree that a daily intake from our diet is important.
Silica is found in compounds called glycosaminoglycans, which are components of structural tissues such as arteries, tendons, skin, bones and cartilage.
Most silica supplements use silica extracted from horsetail but at Nature’s Best we prefer to use bamboo gum as a source of natural silica. Bamboo gum contains over 90% organic silica, which is more than 10 times the level found in the widely used horsetail plant, where the level is as low as 5-7%.
Good dietary sources of silica include grains such as oats, barley and rice, although refining processes can strip much of this mineral away.
Silica has become a popular supplement for healthy skin and joint health.

Silca For Hair
By Dawn - 26th May 2012
Why do you use this product Silica 200mg ? The answer is in the title - I take it in the hope that it will benefit my hair which, for my age (50+) is very long (mid-back length). I have taken Silica from different suppliers for several years but was interested in Nature's Best's claim that the bamboo extract is 'better'. I have no evidence to show that either Silica in general or this particular brand have made any difference to my hair - it's not as though one can test one half of one's head 'with' and the other 'without'. But it just seems a good idea and the cost per day is relatively low.
I would recommend it on the basis that it is unproven, is unlikely to harm, and quite possibly does some good.

Silica
By Anonymous - 3rd May 2012
I have yet to receive my product and have not taken silica before but I have heard that it is meant to be god for hair growth and general hair health. I chose natures best as the description said that it contained 90% silica compared to many horseftail silica products that only have 7% silica. I am hoping for a mop of beautiful long glossy locks in the months to come....

Why do you use this product Silica 200mg ? I USED TO TAKE BAMBOO GUM WHICH IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. SILICA HAS BAMBOO GUM IN IT. THE REASON I TAKE IT IS TO STRENGTHEN MY JOINTS. I HAVE HAD 1 HIP REPLACEMENT & DON'T WANT ANOTHER ONE.

Blepheritis
By Anonymous - 24th March 2012
Why do you use this product Silica 200mg ? I suffer with Blepheritis and read that another sufferer had found it helpful, apparently it absorbs excess mucous within the body. Anyway it seems to work! Took a couple of months but I am no longer wiping my eyes every few minutes, although I still have a strict cleaning regime for my lids as well. So fingers crossed! Hope this may be helpful to someone else as it is a miserable condition.

Why do you use this product Silica 200mg ? Not taken before so don't know if they help but read an article on how they help with weak, cracked nails.
