Prebiotics/Probiotics

We believe there is a strong case for probiotics for some situations, but think that the strains of bacteria used in yoghurt making are not necessarily the most beneficial. This is why we sell probiotic capsules containing specially selcted strains of friendly bacteria. But we also believe that friendly bacteria already in the bowel can be encouraged to grow and the best way to achieve this is to consume a prebiotic, which is a food that friendly bacteria can feed on, such as a soluble fibre called FOS. Soluble fibre is obtained from vegetables and we offer a pure form in Flourishe®. Research shows that prebiotic foods can have a very fast, and a very significant influence on the growth of friendly bacteria in the bowel. Many people choose to take a prebiotic such as FOS alongside a probiotic capsule.
