A Poor Substitute
By Chris Webb - 24th April 2013
Very disappointed with the new Milk Thistle product which has 30% less tablets and over 50% less active ingredient for almost the same cost. I was very happy with the old product, will have to look elsewhere if this is the best they can do.

Due to the new licensing laws regarding some of the herbs in our range, we were able to sell through current stocks before having to produce the new licensed version of Milk Thistle. Now that existing stocks of Nature's Best Milk Thistle have been exhausted, we have to supply the new formulation.
I completely appreciate the points you are making. The dilemma was, do we lose a very much relied upon herb due to the change in legislation or do we comply with the legislation and continue to provide our customers with a choice?
As this is a medicine the raw material for our product is where the biggest price rise has occurred. The herbal suppliers had to do vast amounts of work to comply with the Medicines and Healthfood Regulatory Authority's rigorous requirements creating Drug Master Files (DMF) for all of the herbs that were to become THRs and that was only the beginning. Each company wanting to use one of the DMF supported herbs, then had to apply for a licence which required documentation and stability trials. This doesn't change the fact that from the customers point of view there are less tablets in the pack and the price is higher. We could have opted for a 90 tablet fill size but this would have been even more expensive. This is why we have labelled the product as new and radically changed the design as we are not hiding the fact that this is a very different product to the original. We have still tried to remain competitive, and we are when compared to other THR versions of Milk Thistle.
We at Nature's Best do care, very much about our loyal customers, and I hope that this helps to provide insight into why these changes have been made and would like to thank you for your feedback.
Milk Thistle Price Increase Etc
By Chris Tigwell - 8th April 2013
Natures Best are partially correct in the reasons for the price increase ie new legislation. What they do not say is that the legislation was forced on the UK by the EU. The sooner we are out of it the better! Low recommendation is due to current situation. Silymarin is an excellent and effective product, in sensible strength.

Expensive
By David Rees - 24th March 2013
I recently bought milk thistle with each tablet containing 200mg of silymarin. Now, it seems impossible to buy any with a decent amount of silymarin. These only contain 87mg and are very bad value.

Agree With Anonymous
By Anonymous 2 - 23rd March 2013
I completely agree with Anonymous above. I had been buying the 'old' milk thistle tablets from here for a few years. 200mg, good price etc. etc. Now it has all changed. The justification provided for the hike in price and dilution of the quality of the product is nonsense. Have a look elsewhere. Similar stores have either sold out or are low on stock of all types of milk thistle. Why? Because the 'great' British public have cottoned-on to a few adverts and have been wrongly led to believe that by taking milk thistle they can eradicate the harmless effects of alcohol, thereby enabling them to drink more and more. Demand goes up, prices go up. While I don't have a problem with the supply and demand factors (Nature's Best is a business after all) the 'new' milk thistle product offers lower quality with an outrageous price increase that is, quite frankly, unpalatable and smacks of exploitation. I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

No Longer Of Same Quality Or Value
By Alan Dean - 21st March 2013
I was just going to reorder my usual Milk Thistle that contained 200mg Silymarin. This new product is much more expensive and not of the same extract strength. It was value for money but I shall now look elsewhere (I agree with the previous reviewer)

Bad Change Of Product
By Christine Jeavons - 21st March 2013
Why do you use this product Milk Thistle Tablets 150mg ? liver cyst and benign tumour caused poor liver function tests and this product was recommended and DID improve my LFT. However I now see the product has changed considerably and apart from the pirice hike is so much weaker than the original. This is only done to hide the enormous change in price. I would rather have the old product at a higher price as I now feel mislead and cheated by this.Had someone before me not left a bad review there would be no explanation on this page. I would have liked to see the original strong product still sold, even if at a higher price with an explanation for why it has had to be made more expensive. As I have been taking the original high strength dose I am too worried to change the dosage. A note with my last order informing me of the change would have been nice. This is very poor customer service.
