Lutein

Lutein is a plant pigment called a carotenoid found in leafy green vegetables. It plays an important role in the macular of the eye where it helps to protect the delicate light receptor cells from damage by filtering out harmful light. Research has shown that some diets are low in lutein and so a supplement containing lutein may be useful in that situation.
